Grint In INTO THE WHITE

The latest trailer is out for Into The White, the new Norwegian film from director Petter Næss starring RUPERT GRINT.

High above the harsh Norwegian wilderness, English and German pilots shoot each other to the ground after a violent chance encounter. Isolated, they must fight to survive the brutal winter. Though war has made them enemies, antagonism is hard to maintain as days go by and, through mutual need, unlikely friendships bloom. Somehow, they become comrades. War, after all, is absurd.

RUPERT plays Gunner Robert Smith and Into The White will receive its world premiere in Oslo, Norway on 4th March 2012, opening in Norwegian cinemas on 9th March. Check out the trailer below.

Ruth’s Inside Job

Exciting new four-part BBC drama serial Inside Men begins tonight, Thursday 2nd February, at 9pm on BBC1 and stars RUTH GEMMELL.

Told entirely from their perspective, Inside Men is the story of three employees of a security depot who plan and execute a multi-million pound cash heist.

Steven Mackintosh plays John Coniston, manager of the cash counting house, a character too scared to confront the humdrum normality of his life. Joining him in the robbery is depot security guard Chris, played by Ashley Walters, and forklift driver Marcus, played by Warren Brown. RUTH‘s character works in the depot and becomes a hostage (though we can’t say any more just yet!) The tension very quickly reaches fever pitch, with exciting twists and plot turns aplenty.

Inside Men starts tonight and continues every Thursday at 9pm on BBC1. Check out the teaser below:

The Dark Side Of DISNEY

21 years after it came kicking and screaming into the world, Philip Ridley’s dark and twisted play The Pitchfork Disney has returned to the London stage, starring CHRIS NEW.

When it premiered at London’s Bush Theatre in 1991, The Pitchfork Disney caused a sensation. With its barrage of barbaric and magical imagery, its gleaming dark comedy and catastrophic air of violence and sexual tension, audiences were left breathless, intoxicated and, in some cases, fleeing in terror.

Now director Edward Dick – following his critically acclaimed revival of Ridley’s The Fastest Clock In The Universe at Hampstead Theatre in 2009 – takes on this contemporary classic and reveals that Ridley’s dark and glittering vision looks today more like breathtaking prophecy.

Ten years ago something terrible happened to Presley and Haley. Since then they have lived alone in their dead parents’ house. But one night their safe isolation is shattered by the arrival of Cosmo Disney, who confronts them with the scariest question of all… what exactly happened to their parents?

CHRIS stars as Presley Stray, alongside Mariah Gale, Steve Guadino and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett.

The play is currently showing at the Arcola Theatre and will run until 17th March 2012. Book your tickets here.

A Curious Announcement

In July 2012, Simon Stephens’ stage adaptation of Mark Haddon’s bestselling novel The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-time will open at the Cottesloe Theatre, National Theratre, London.

LUKE TREADAWAY will star as Christopher, an autistic boy who goes about investigating the death of his neighbour’s dog. Una Stubbs and Nicola Walker will also be starring in the production.

The much loved novel on which the play is based is both funny and heartbreaking in equal measure. The book has gone on to win a clutch of literature awards since its publication in 2005.

The National Theatre has only just announced the production for it’s Summer 2012 season, but we will bring you more information as soon as we are allowed. This is set to be a fascinating and exciting piece of theatre so get ready to book your tickets once they have been released.

The Trial Of Ubu

Now showing at the Hampstead Theatre: The Trial Of Ubu, starring NIKKI AMUKA-BIRD.

The Trial of Ubu is a savage comedy that interrogates the assumptions of a Court as it struggles to deal with defendants who are not only opposed to the morality of law, but exist in a different moral dimension altogether.

The play is set in The Hague in January 2010. The dictator Ubu, the grotesque and amoral megalomaniac from Jarry’s 1896 play Ubu Roi, is before a UN constituted International Tribunal charged with ‘crimes against humanity’ and other serious violations of international humanitarian law.

Writer Simon Stephens’ virtuosic satire examines the often absurd legal wrangling of the international justice system. Is this the justice of the victors? Is this the best way to deal with the perpetrators of unspeakable crime? Wherein lies the legitimacy of an internationally convened Tribunal?

NIKKI AMUKA-BIRD plays one of two headphone-wearing interpreters, starring alongside Josie Daxter, Kate Duchêne, Paul McCleary, Rob Ostlere and George Taylor. The play is directed by Katie Mitchell, reuniting with playwright Stephens after their critically acclaimed Wastwater at the Royal Court.

The Trial Of Ubu runs until 25th February 2012. Be sure to book tickets, which you can buy here.

Intruders (starring KERRY FOX) and Acts Of Godfrey, starring (DOON MACKICHAN) are both released in UK cinemas this week.

Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s new English-language horror thriller Intruders is one of the most hotly anticipated Spanish films of the year. Based on a script by Nicolás Casariego and Jaime Marqués, it tells the terrifying story of two families whose lives are turned upside down by menacing apparitions. In Spain, a mother protects her son from a faceless stranger, while in the UK a young girl has terrifying dreams of Hollowface, a demon who becomes a threat to the girl and her family.

Also out this week is Acts of Godfrey – a delightfully dark British indie comedy with a wicked sense of humour, directed by Johnny Daukes. DOON MACKICHAN stars alongside an ensemble cast of renowned British actors and comedians, including Simon Callow, Harry Enfield, Celia Imrie and Iain Robertson.

A motley crew of bizarre characters, including a conman, a couple of medical reps and a boy-band manager, assemble for a two-day motivational sales course called ‘Win Only Win’. When God (or Godfrey) intervenes, things aren’t as straightforward as they should be. Throw in greed, deceit and a new sexual super drug and you have a recipe for disaster.  Oh, and the whole thing is told in rhyming couplets!

Acts Of Godfrey also opens nationwide tomorrow. Check out the trailer below and make sure you catch both of these films on the big screen.

New SKINS

Skins will return to our TV screens next week for its sixth series, with episode one premiering at 10pm on Monday 23rd January on E4.

Series 6 continues to follow the “third generation” of characters introduced in Series 5 last year, picking up two weeks before the beginning of a new academic school year, their second (and final) year of sixth form.

All eight characters from Series 5 will return, including our very own FREYA MAVOR as Mini McGuiness who, after dealing with her issues in the previous series, is “less of a bitch, more of the group – she’s had to do some growing up of her own.”

And this time around, there is an additional ninth character introduced in the form of Alex Henley, the “mysterious flirty new guy”. Alex is played by brand new Hamilton Hodell client SAM JACKSON, to whom we would like to give a very warm welcome into the Hamilton Hodell collective!

We can’t give away too much just yet but Skins Series 6 will offer up the usual dose of drugs, partying, sex, relationships and crazy antics from its teenage cast. Don’t miss episode one on Monday night, which includes Moroccan marijuana, nudity and goats! Or if you can’t wait, you can now watch ep one streaming on 4OD before it airs officially on E4 next week.

Below is the series trailer to get you excited:
