SXSW 2011

Three brand new feature films starring Hamilton Hodell clients will premiere in March at this year’s prestigious South By Southwest (SXSW) Festival in Austin, Texas.

Weekend, written and directed by Andrew Haigh and starring CHRIS NEW, tells the story of a one-night stand that becomes something else, something important – a (sort of) love story between two guys trying to take control of their lives. The film will receive its World Premiere in the festival’s ‘Emerging Visions’ category, which focuses on “innovation and creativity from new and emerging feature filmmakers, showcasing raw talent in documentary and narratives.” For more information on the film, visit the Weekend website.

You Instead, directed by David Mackenzie and starring LUKE TREADAWAY and MATHEW BAYNTON, tells the story of two rival musicians who find themselves handcuffed together at the world renowned music festival T in the Park, where they are both scheduled to perform. The film will receive its International Premiere in the festival’s ‘Spotlight Premieres’ category, “shining a light on new documentary and narrative features receiving their World, North American or U.S. Premieres at SXSW.” For more information on the film, visit Sigma Films’ You Instead page.

Attack The Block, directed by Joe Cornish and starring NICK FROST, FRANZ DRAMEH and LUKE TREADAWAY, is a funny, frightening action adventure movie that pits a teen gang against an invasion of alien monsters, turning a tower block into a sci-fi playground. It’s ‘inner city versus outer space’. The film will receive its World Premiere in the festival’s ‘Midnighters’ category, which the festival describes as “Scary, funny, sexy, controversial – provocative after-dark features for night owls and the terminally curious.” For more information on the film, visit the Attack The Block IMDB page.

SXSW takes place in Austin, Texas, 11th-20th March, 2011.
