A new season of Playhouse Presents has come to Sky Arts, showcasing new and exclusive comedy and drama with an all-star cast of acclaimed and celebrated British talent.
The series has been commissioned as an evolution of the Playhouse series, which champions innovative productions and original writing, and which underlines Sky’s commitment to the arts and in particular to British productions. HH clients EMMA THOMPSON, STEPHEN FRY, TOM ELLIS and HAYLEY ATWELL star in the series of programmes, which are currently showing on Sky Arts 1, Thursdays at 9pm.
EMMA THOMPSON stars in episode 8 – Walking The Dogs – which airs on Thursday 31st May at 9pm on Sky Arts 1. She is transformed into Queen Elizabeth (above) in this comedy-drama based on the real-life event of 1982, when the intruder Michael Fagan (played by Eddie Marsan) broke into the Queen’s bedroom in Buckingham Palace while her security officer (played by Russel Tovey) was out walking the dogs. We follow all three characters over the dramatic half hour which the intruder spends in her bedroom. You can watch a preview from the film on the Sky Arts website.
STEPHEN FRY and HAYLEY ATWELL star in episode 9 – The Man – which airs on Thursday 7th June at 9pm on Sky Arts 1. Hidden in an exclusive hotel, a cabal of powerful individuals debates international politics, economics and war. This film was written by Sandi Toksvig and offers a chilling look at how an unelected few control the fate of the masses. Zoe Wanamaker and Stellan Skarsgård also star.
TOM ELLIS stars in episode 10 – The Other Woman – airing on Thursday 14th June at 9pm on Sky Arts 1. In this film, life imitates art as a successful TV writer and his actress wife’s failing marriage is mirrored in the show he writes and she stars in. But can they work out their problems on screen or is their relationship doomed to fail? Also starring Geraldine James, Richard E Grant and Trevor Eve.
Be sure to tune in for what are set to be three excellent dramas starring fantastic actors.
