The official trailers are finally out for two of the year’s most eagerly awaited feature films, Skyfall and Cloud Atlas, both starring BEN WHISHAW. You can check them out below, along with some very cool images from each film.
Skyfall is the upcoming 23rd spy film in the James Bond series, directed by Sam Mendes. It features Daniel Craig’s third performance as James Bond and BEN WHISHAW makes his Bond debut, starring as ‘Q’ (above). Javier Bardem plays Raoul Silva, the film’s villain, Dame Judi Dench reprises her role as ‘M’ and Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney and Rory Kinnear also star.
Skyfall is due to be released in the UK on 26 October 2012, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Bond film series, which began with Dr. No in 1962. The trailer is full of high octane action sequences and all of the usual excitement we have come to expect from the franchise, whether it’s falling from neon-lit skyscrapers, ripping the backs off trains or standing in front of a speeding Tube train. Cloud Atlas is the highly-anticipated film adaptation of David Mitchell’s novel, directed for the big screen by The Wachowski Brothers (Matrix Trilogy) and Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run, Perfume). It’s a sprawling, genre-hopping, interlinking puzzle-box of a story, full of epic and diverse visuals and stunning set pieces. The film boasts a stellar cast which includes Tom Hanks, Halle Berrie, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Hugh Grant, Susan Sarandon and our very own Mr. WHISHAW.
BEN plays bisexual, bipolar composer Robert Frobisher, who flees London to Belgium to become an assistant to Vyvyan Ayrs, a famous composer (played by Jim Broadbent). He rewards his hospitality by sleeping with both his wife and daughter.
Cloud Atlas is released on October 26th in the USA and in October (exact date TBC) in the UK. Here’s the immense 6-minute trailer to whet your appetite:
