Monkey Business

The trailers have just landed for two exciting new feature films starring DAVID OYELOWO. Check them out below.

The first is Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, directed by Rupert Wyatt.

A prequel to the original 1968 classic Planet Of The Apes, this origin story is set in present day San Francisco, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

OYELOWO plays Steve Jacobs, the head of the company board of directors pushing the next stage of clinical trials on the lab apes. He stars alongside James Franco, Tom Felton, Andy Serkis, John Lithgow and Brian Cox.

Oscar-winning visual effects company WETA Digital, who worked on the Lord Of The Rings trilogy and Avatar, is responsible for the film’s groundbreaking CGI, which takes humanised monkey effects to whole new level.

The second is Dreamworks Studios’ The Help, written and directed by Tate Taylor and based on the #1 New York Times best-selling novel by Kathryn Stockett.

Set in Mississippi during the 1960s, the film tells the story of a southern society girl who turns her friends’ lives – and a small Mississippi town – upside down when she decides to interview the black women who have spent their lives taking care of prominent southern families. The Help is a provocative and inspiring look at what happens when a southern town’s unspoken code of rules and behavior is shattered by three courageous women who strike up an unlikely friendship.

OYELOWO plays the town’s local preacher, starring alongside Viola Davis, Bryce Dallas Howard, Octavia Spencer, Emma Stone and Sissy Spacek.

Both The Help and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes will be released in cinemas in August 2011.
