Ridley and Tony Scott’s Scott Free Productions, along with German-based Tandem Communications, have just announced the cast for their brand new $44 million, eight-hour miniseries World Without End and Hamilton Hodell client OLIVER JACKSON-COHEN will be playing one of the leads.
World Without End is based on author Ken Follett’s novel of the same name and is a follow-up to the 2010 smash hit series The Pillars of the Earth, also written by Follett.
OLIVER will play the rough and dangerous ‘Ralph’, alongside an all-star cast including Cynthia Nixon, Miranda Richardson, Ben Chaplin, Peter Firth, Charlotte Riley and Tom Weston-Jones. Michael Caton-Jones (Rob Roy) is directing from a script by John Pielmeier, who also adapted The Pillars of the Earth for Tandem and Scott Free.
Set in England 200 years after the events in Pillars, World Without End chronicles tough times for ordinary citizens who are being hit with enormous taxes by the King. England teeters on the brink of a devastating 100-year war with France and Europe is bracing for a terrible plague, which will wipe out a third of the continent’s population.
Filming on the mini series will commence on 11th July in Hungary, where the producers have created a 12,000-square-metre backlot and built an entire medieval town and bridges. The shoot will last for five months, with additional location shoots in Slovakia and Austria.
World Without End has already been sold to UK’s Channel Four, as well as numerous international television stations.
