Ben’s Finest Hour

Introducing The Hour – a brand new drama for BBC2 starring BEN WHISHAW.

Set in 1956 London at a BBC on the cusp of a television news revolution, WHISHAW plays bright young journalist Freddie Lyon who, along with colleague Bel Rowley (played by Romola Garai), is approached to head a bold new concept in TV news: a weekly current affairs show, presented by the suave, gravel-voiced Hector Madden (Dominic West).

This exciting new six-parter from Kudos Film and Television was written and created by BAFTA award-winning Abi Morgan. With a highly competitive, sharp-witted and passionate love triangle at the heart of the series, it is through the lens of the lives of Freddie, Bel and Hector that viewers witness the decade at its most exciting – from the ruthless sexual politics behind the polite social façade to the revelations that redefined the world for a new generation.

Over the six episodes, Morgan explores the interplay and intense ambitions between our rising news team in a stunning character-driven piece, focusing on the lives of three characters as they confront their own fears for their futures, while the country does the same. It’s compelling, original and will make for irresistible viewing. Oh, and did we mention it’s also a gripping murder mystery and a conspiracy thriller too!

Don’t miss the first episode – Tuesday 19th July, 9pm on BBC2. You can view the trailer below to whet your appetite…
