Huge congratulations go to both BEN WHISHAW and BERTIE CARVEL, each of whom has received prestigious award nominations this week.

BEN WHISHAW has been nominated for the Best Leading Actor award at the 2013 British Academy (BAFTA) Television Awards, for the titular role in the BBC’s Richard II (The Hollow Crown). He is nominated alongside Derek Jacobi, Sean Bean and Toby Jones. The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 12th May.

BERTIE CARVEL has been nominated for three awards at the 2013 Audience Choice Awards 2013, for his much celebrated role of Miss. Trunchbull in the RSC’s Matilda: The Musical, which has recently opened on Broadway. He is nominated for Favourite Actor in a Musical, Favourite Breakthrough Performance and, most fabulously, Favourite Diva Performance! In a line-up boasting some fantastic talent, BERTIE has actually received the joint highest number of nominations, alongside no other than Billy Porter and diva extraordinaire Bette Midler!

Matilda has also been nominated for Favourite New Musical and Favourite New Song (x3).

The Audience Choice Awards, now in its 14th year, are the only major theatre awards in America voted on by Broadway’s biggest cheerleaders: the fans. So it’s time to GET VOTING! Voting is now open and everyone is eligible to cast their votes. It closes on Thursday, May 2nd at 12pm and the trophies will be handed out at a VIP ceremony on Sunday, May 5th.  Vote for Bertie HERE.
