Early Renewal For THE KNICK

Steven Soderbergh’s new Cinemax television series The Knick, starring JULIET RYLANCE,  has already been renewed for a second season. The early pickup, announced last week, comes one month before the historical medical drama is set to debut on Cinemax, HBO’s sister network.

Set in downtown New York in 1900, the ten-episode The Knick — premiering August 8th at 10pm on Cinemax — centres on Knickerbocker Hospital and the surgeons, nurses and staff who push the bounds of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics. Soderbergh, who directs the entire season, is an executive producer alongside the show’s lead Clive Owen. JULIET stars as Cornelia Robertson, a driving force whose passionate social work at ‘The Knick’ will always play second fiddle to her wealthy father’s philanthropy toward it.

Soderbergh has stated that he intends to continue as the sole director on the second season for a further ten episodes. Check out the Season One trailer below and don’t miss the premiere this August!
