The long-awaited and hugely anticipated dramatisation of Hilary Mantel’s Booker-winning novels Wolf Hall and Bring Up The Bodies finally premieres on UK television screens tonight, Wednesday 21st January at 9pm on BBC2.
The brand new six-part series – Wolf Hall – stars MARK RYLANCE as the powerful historical figure Thomas Cromwell and charts his rise and fall in the lead-up to the Reformation, covering everything from his interactions with the major players of the court through to his domestic life and flashbacks to childhood. Damian Lewis plays the charismatic and unpredictably brutal Henry VIII and HH clients NATASHA LITTLE, EMMA HIDDLESTON and LUCY RUSSELL also star as Elizabeth Cromwell, Meg More and Lady Shelton, respectively.
MARK‘s performance as Cromwell has already been receiving accolades from critics and the show looks set to be a big hit. According the Radio Times, Wolf Hall “lives up to the books, and the hype [and it] could already be the best drama of 2015”. It describes MARK‘s performance as “magisterial”, saying: “Rylance is a uniquely gifted performer who marries a brilliant mind with an enormous heart, and even just one look from him seems to carry years of pain, hurt, fear and deep human feeling.”
