Monsters: Dark Continent finally arrives on the big screen this week, opening in UK cinemas on Friday 1st May.
HH client KYLE SOLLER stars in this eagerly-awaited sequel to Gareth Edwards’ magnificent indie movie from 2010, the critically-acclaimed fan favourite Monsters. This time around, the genre switches to ‘psychological war drama’. The story takes place in the same universe as the first film, but is set in an entirely different location and scenario, with a whole new cast.
Ten years on from the events of Monsters, the ‘Infected Zones’ have now spread worldwide. There has been a proliferation of the ‘monsters’ in an unnamed Middle Eastern country, which has simultaneously given rise to a new insurgency amongst the local civilians. U.S. troops are sent in to deal directly with both the insurgents and the monster creatures. The film centres around a group of six soldiers on a mission to the Middle East, one of whom – Inkelaar – is played by KYLE. What unfolds is an intense, in-your-face study of desert combat dynamics, set amidst a science-fiction backdrop, complete with breathtaking special effects and some spectacular sequences featuring more of the bio-luminescent creatures first seen in Edwards’ 2010 original.
KYLE gives an intense and moving performance as a traumatized soldier in unfamiliar territory. Go see it on the big screen this weekend and you can check out the trailer below:
