The Enfield Haunting is a brand new three-part series based upon the world-renowned, terrifying true events that occurred in that ordinary house in Enfield in 1977. It stars an award-winning cast including Timothy Spall, Juliet Stevenson and HH client MATTHEW MACFADYEN.
Based on real events, adapted from Guy Lyon Playfair’s book This House is Haunted and drawing on extensive documentation, recordings and witness statements of the time, the show brings to life the phenomenon that remains to this day one of the most unexplained yet best documented cases of paranormal activity in the UK, if not the world. In 1977 the Hodgson family started reporting unexplained supernatural happenings in their house in Enfield. Single mum Peggy Hodgson and her four children sought help after being kept awake by strange sounds and furniture moving at night with Peggy even believing her children were possessed by a poltergeist. Up to 30 eyewitnesses are believed to have seen the goings-on from inside the house.
MATTHEW stars as Guy Lyon Playfair, a Paranormal Investigator with extensive experience in exorcisms.
The show is captivating and extremely creepy; London’s Metro claims it will “chill the living daylights out of you…Think The Exorcist meets Bates Motel with a little bit of What Lies Beneath in the mix and you’ll have a good idea of what to expect.” Don’t miss the first episode, which airs on Sunday 3rd May at 9pm on Sky Living. If you do miss it, you’ll be able to catch up on Sky On Demand and if you don’t have Sky, it will be available via NOW TV on demand. Below is an exclusive clip from the show, followed by the trailer:
