Nadine’s SECOND COMING: Screenings & Q&As

Second Coming, the provocative second feature by BAFTA award-winning British playwright and director Debbie Tucker Green, is released tomorrow in selected UK cinemas, starring NADINE MARSHALL.

It tells the story of Jackie and Mark, a married, middle-class London couple (played by NADINE and Idris Elba) who are thrown into shock when they seem to have been blessed – or cursed – with an immaculate conception! Afraid of Mark’s reaction, Jackie knows it’s only a matter of time until she can’t conceal the truth any more. When that moment does arrive, its effect is profound and what happens next will take both characters and audience by surprise.

NADINE is no stranger to working with Debbie Tucker Green. In 2009, she played the lead role in Green’s short film Heat and also starred in the 2008 Royal Court stage version and 2011 film adaptation of Green’s powerful drama Random, also directed by Green and for which NADINE won a Music Video & Screen Award and received a 2012 BAFTA nomination for Best Leading Actress. For new film Second Coming, Green spins a unique conceit into a social-realist family portrait grounded in the textures and off-handed banter of everyday life. The piece is bolstered by outstanding performances from both NADINE and Idris Elba, making Second Coming a provocative, allegorically loaded conversation-starter that you won’t soon forget.

The film received its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival to great critical acclaim and it has already been picking up some fantastic reviews – including 4 stars in this week’s Time Out – for both the film and for Idris’ and NADINE‘s stellar performances.

There will be some special screenings to mark the film’s release, with NADINE doing a Q&A on Monday 8th June at the Ritzy. Get your tickets here. The special screening schedule for Second Coming is below (including links for info and tickets), followed by a teaser trailer. This is a truly remarkable film, so do go along to one of the screenings and Q&As and be sure to catch it on the big screen.
