Cuffs is a fresh, authentic, contemporary eight-part cop show for the BBC, introducing HH client JACOB IFAN in his first leading television role. It premieres next Wednesday 28th October at 8pm on BBC One.
A visceral drama that takes the audience on an exhilarating ride through the challenges of frontline policing in the vibrant and alternative seaside city of Brighton, Cuffs is BBC One’s first drama commission in the 8pm slot in eight years and is packed full of humour, humanity and colourful characters. JACOB stars as PC Jake Vickers opposite Ashley Walters as PC Draper and Amanda Abbington as their Detective Sergeant Jo Moffat. HH client LUCY RUSSELL also stars in the show as Meredith Pryce.
Both a character-led drama and a police procedural, Cuffs is a show where the cops are forced to deal with everything the job throws at them and where work-based pressures are never left at the station door. Every episode sees the characters put their lives on the line to protect the public: from a booby-trapped cannabis farm in a suburban semi, to an elderly farmer’s wife with a shotgun – this is a job fraught with danger. But the high stakes are also matched with more absurd altercations such as a middle-class dog-napping and naturists fighting on the beach!
The show is produced by Tiger Aspect Productions and created by Julie Gearey (Prisoners’ Wives). Make sure you tune in for its debut next Wednesday. Here’s the trailer:
