YONDERLAND Returns For Series 3

Sky’s surreal comedy Yonderland returns to Sky 1 this Sunday 16th October at 6:30pm for its third series.

Created, written by and starring HH client MATHEW BAYNTON, the weirdly wonderful series follows 33-year-old mum Debbie Maddox’s adventures in Yonderland where most of the characters happen to be puppets and with only an Elf by her side. In Series 3, the evil Imperatrix is no more – killed when she terminated the robotic weapon which shared her life force. With her gone, Negatus now answers to no-one and can seize control of Yonderland for himself. But how will his fellow Overlords respond to the departure of Her Eminence?

Arriving in the show this year for the first time is our very own STEPHEN FRY who joins the cast as mysterious returning Elder, Cuddly Dick. Recently released from prison, he is a charming, avuncular eccentric who loves nothing more than to spread love and kindness (as well as plenty of hugs and kisses). But there may be more to his persona beneath this warm and affable exterior…

Tune in on Sunday for the premiere! Here’s the trailer, featuring STEPHEN in his fun new role (and a sneak peek of MATHEW at the end):

Tilda Is The Ancient One

Marvel’s eagerly awaited big screen version of Doctor Strange will be unleashed onto UK cinema screens on Friday October 28, starring an awesomely cool, androgynous TILDA SWINTON as the iconic ‘The Ancient One’, complete with no hair!

Directed by Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange focuses primarily on the titular character’s origin story. In 1963, after being crippled in an accident, talented neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange, the next Sorcerer Supreme – played by Benedict Cumberbatch – goes on a quest to find a way to repair his mangled hands, eventually meeting TILDA‘s The Ancient One and her student Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor). With The Ancient One as his mentor, he sets out on a journey to master the mystic arts.

Doctor Strange sets a new tone for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, focusing on magic and extra-dimensional beings. The film is excellently conceived and great fun, and TILDA is spellbinding in her magical role, fitting in perfectly to the unique Marvel universe.

Check out the trailer below and make sure you see it on the big screen from October 28.

The Girl With All The Gifts – the eagerly-awaited big screen adaptation of M.R. Carey’s bestselling novel of the same name – is released in UK cinemas this week, starring our client, the wonderful SENNIA NANUA, in the titular role, opposite Glenn Close, Gemma Arterton and Paddy Considine.

One of the most fascinating sci-fi horror stories of recent years, The Girl With All The Gifts is an original and compelling tale that gives a completely fresh take on the ‘zombie’ genre. It follows a contingent of soldiers and scientists researching a group of children who are infected with a zombie pathogen, but somehow still control their thoughts and emotions, despite having a desire to eat human flesh. Among the group, one girl named Melanie (played by SENNIA) seems to be the key to finding a cure.

The film opens in UK cinemas this week on Friday 23 September – go see the brilliant SENNIA in her big-screen debut! Here’s the trailer:

The reviews are in for writer/director Tom Ford’s new film Nocturnal Animals, starring our wonderful AARON TAYLOR-JOHNSON – and by all accounts, it’s an absolute smash!

Having won the Silver Lion award at last week’s Venice Film Festival, Ford’s second film (his follow up to 2009’s A Single Man) looks set to take the world by storm, receiving rave reviews across the board, especially for AARON and his incredible performance.

Nocturnal Animals is a dark psychological thriller adapted (by Ford himself) from late American novelist Austin Wright’s 1993 book Tony and Susan. It tells the story of an art gallery owner (played by Amy Adams) haunted by her ex-husband (Jake Gyllenhaal)’s novel, a violent thriller she interprets as a veiled threat against her and a symbolic revenge tale. Adams and Gyllenhaal play dual roles as the once-married couple and as the protagonists in the novel-within-the-film, from which the film takes its name. Michael Shannon, Isla Fisher and Laura Linney also star.

AARON plays terrifying bad guy Ray, the leader of a gang hired to initiate the vengeful kidnapping. Have a read below of all the wonderful praise being afforded to AARON on the strength of his performance in the film. Go AARON!

“The real standout is Taylor-Johnson, so effectively creepy as the ringleader of the novel’s miscreants…his unsettling charismatic turn here heralds a career turning point.”
– Alonso Duralde, The Wrap

“Ford’s most precious collaborator is Taylor-Johnson, who gives this movie a jolt of wild-eyed unpredictability.”
– Jeff Sneider, Mashable

“The leader of the gang is Ray, played in long black sideburns by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who gives this taunting sociopath a strange kind of depth”
– Owen Gleiberman, Variety

“…director Tom Ford pulled off a casting coup by turning [Aaron] into a bad guy. With a Texas drawl and goatee, he’s unrecognizable…It’s thrilling, and terrifying, to watch Taylor-Johnson’s descent into the dark side.”
– Ramin Setoodeh, Variety

“Two best things about ‘Nocturnal Animals:’ Aaron Taylor-Johnson (yes!) and a bewigged Laura Linney as Amy Adams’s Texas socialite mom.”
– Richard Lawson, Vanity Fair

“In the role of the villain, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is spellbinding…[he] crafts one of the year’s most frightening villains. His best work comes when pitted against Gyllenhaal, whose devastation expertly contrasts with Taylor-Johnson’s sense of devilish control.”
– Matt Hoffman, Film School Rejects

Nocturnal Animals will be released in UK cinemas on November 4 2016. Here’s the trailer:

Rave Reviews for Ben Daniels’ THE EXORCIST

In just over a week, the first episode of the highly-anticipated television remake of classic horror film The Exorcist will premiere on US channel FOX, starring HH client BEN DANIELS in the titular role. And very excitingly, the first reviews are glowing and full of praise for BEN and the show as a whole.

The Exorcist offers a modern reinvention of the classic horror franchise inspired by William Blatty’s original 1971 book, more than four decades after the Academy Award-nominated film solidified itself as the greatest horror movie ever made. Returning now in series format, the show is written by Jeremy Slater, directed by Rupert Wyatt and is a propulsive psychological thriller following two very different priests tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession. Alfonso Herrera stars as Father Tomas Ortega – the warm, selfless and compassionate leader of a small but hearty little church; BEN stars as Father Marcus Lang – an intense ‘holy warrior’ carrying out an occupation that the church no longer acknowledges in public; and Geena Davis plays Angela Rance, the tormented mother of a possessed young girl.

According to this fantastic Variety review, the drama “does a truly impressive job” and the pilot episode gives “an exceptionally effective starting point” full of “meticulous choices [that] reinforce a quiet yet palpable sense of dread and foreboding”.

BEN receives similar praise: “The Exorcist needs actors who can easily transition between operatic scenarios and quieter moments of resignation and fear, and Daniels’ nimbleness in this regard is exceptional”. The review goes on to celebrate “his charisma and finely calibrated range”, naming BEN and co-star Geena Davis as “two very strong foundations”. Read the full review here.

Fansided.com has also given a glowing review of BEN‘s work in the show, explaining why “his performance is going to make you a believer” and how he “has an ability to take control of every single project in which he appears…he doesn’t just sink his teeth into roles; he tears them apart.” Check out the full article here.

If you’re in America, tune in to FOX next Friday September 23 for the premiere. Until then, check out the trailer below (and prepare yourself for shivers as Mike Oldfield’s eery classic Tubular Bells – the theme from the original 1973 movie – kicks in at the end!)

After she has a “tantrum” in which she viciously attacks and injures one of the scientists, corporate troubleshooter Lee Weathers (played by Kate Mara) is called in to make the ultimate choice of letting Morgan live or terminating her before she causes any more havoc and escapes into the outside world.

ROSE stars opposite a large ensemble cast that also includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Paul Giamatti. The film is produced by 20th Century Fox and Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions, and directed by Scott’s son Luke Scott.

Make sure you see Morgan on the big screen from Friday September 2. Here’s the trailer:

Written by Daisy Goodwin and produced by Mammoth Screen, the 8-part series portrays the opulence of the Royal Family in the 1800s and chronicles the reign of Queen Victoria, beginning with the moment of the 18-year-old Queen’s accession in 1837 and following her first faltering steps from capricious, hormonal teenager with a weak grasp on her duties and responsibilities to burgeoning monarch, and her marriage to Albert.

NIGEL stars in the series as Tory leader Sir Robert Peel, loathed by Victoria from their first encounter.

Bertie Carvel Directs STRIFE (WhatsOnStage Interview)

Set to make his directorial debut with John Galsworthy’s play Strife at Chichester Festival Theatre in August, our wonderful BERTIE CARVEL has given an insightful interview to WhatsOnStage.com about his decision to step into this new role, why he chose this particular play and how he’s found the process so far. Read the full interview here.

Strife is set in 1909 in a South Wales tinplate works where men are on strike and the community is close to breaking point. Although the men have stood firm behind their firebrand leader, the union has withdrawn its support and it is only a matter of time before the men do too.

More than a hundred years after it was first performed, Galsworthy’s rarely staged play offers a strikingly balanced account of the political spectrum and speaks with directness to our present moment – something which BERTIE discusses in more detail in the interview.

Strife opens at Chichester’s Minerva Theatre on 12th August and runs until 10th September. Get your tickets here.

Ben Stars In BBC3’s FLEABAG

Fleabag is a new feminist comedy-drama for BBC Three, starring Olivia Colman and our very own BEN ALDRIDGE.

The sexually explicit, six-part comedy series is based on the acclaimed 2013 Olivier Award-nominated monologue of the same name by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who also takes the title role in the television adaptation. The character of Fleabag is described as a ‘dry-witted, angry, cash-strapped, grief-riddled, porn-watching young woman trying to come to terms with a recent tragedy… sleeping with anyone who dares to stand too close, squeezing money from wherever she can, rejecting anyone who tries to help her, and keeping up her bravado throughout’.

Fleabag is an unflinching, clever look at tricky youth, terrible sex and self-destruction, which the Radio Times has described as “wonderful…[it] deserves some awards for its unusual, clever and brave depiction of a female world in disarray.”

BEN stars as the amusingly named ‘Arsehole Guy’. You’ll know why after the show’s opening scene!

Fleabag premiered today on BBC Three online; head to iPlayer now to watch Episode 1. New episodes will be uploaded weekly, every Thursday.
