T2: TRAINSPOTTING – Out This Week

untitled-1

The wait is over! T2: Trainspotting is finally released in UK cinemas this week, starring our wonderful ROBERT CARLYLE and SHIRLEY HENDERSON.

T2‘ is the long-awaited sequel to 1996’s groundbreaking, iconic, internationally acclaimed masterpiece Trainspotting, directed by Danny Boyle and based on the novel by Irvine Welsh. Boyle and Welsh have reunited for the sequel, as have all the original cast members, including ROBERT and SHIRLEY who reprise their roles as Begbie and Gail.

Based on Welsh’s 2002 novel Porno, T2 is set twenty years after the previous film, when Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to Scotland to make amends with his friends Spud (Ewen Bremner) and Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), whilst avoiding ROBERT‘s psychopathic Francis “Franco” Begbie, who has recently been released from prison. The film includes remixed and updated versions of two of the original songs that helped make Trainspotting such a hit – Iggy Pop’s Lust For Life and Underworld’s Born Slippy – as well as a brand new iconic soundtrack that includes Queen, Blondie, Run DMC and Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

Go see this awesome film on the big screen this weekend and you’re guaranteed a riotous, nostalgia-filled trip down memory lane as you discover what happened to all your favourite characters, and whether ROBERT‘s Begbie will finally get his revenge!

TABOO Subjects: Edward, Marina & Tallulah

untitled-1

Taboo is a new eight-part television series for BBC1 starring Tom Hardy alongside HH clients EDWARD HOGG, MARINA HANDS and TALLULAH HADDON.

Set in 1814, the supernatural period drama follows James Delaney (Hardy) who returns to Britain after spending twelve years in Africa. With fourteen stolen diamonds and some rather violent sensibilities, he reappears in England a changed and haunted man, presumed dead in Africa many years before. His return finds his father, Horace Delaney, dead and a country at war with France and the United States.

Set to inherit what is left of his father’s shipping empire, James’ arrival not only threatens to disrupt the plans of his half-sister Zilpha and her husband Thorne, but also the political ambitions of the mighty East India Company, chaired by Sir Stuart Strange.

EDWARD stars as Godfrey, the minute taker at the East India Company’s meetings, who may well be taking in a lot more than his masters assume… TALLULAH plays Pearl and MARINA stars as the Countess Musgrove.

Tune in on Saturdays at 9:15pm on BBC1. Here’s the trailer:

The two women are forced out of their current firm and into another of Chicago’s rival law firms.

The Good Fight will contain ten episodes and is scheduled to premiere on February 19, 2017, with the first episode airing on CBS and the latter nine episodes airing on CBS All Access. Check out the exciting trailer below to see ROSE in action alongside a wealth of The Good Wife alumni:

THE PIN Receives Writers’ Guild Nomination!

untitled-1

The shortlist for the annual Writers’ Guild Awards has been announced and huge congratulations go to HH clients BEN ASHENDEN and ALEXANDER OWEN – aka comedy duo THE PIN – who have been nominated in the Best Radio Comedy category, for writing their hit sketch show The Pin, in which they both also star.

This latest Writers’ Guild nomination adds to an exciting list of award wins and nominations for The Pin and its two stars/writers: They were nominated for Best Entertainment Production at the 2016 Radio Academy Awards; they won the award for Best Comedy Production or Moment at the 2016 BBC Radio Awards and they have also recently been nominated for the Best Comedy With a Live Audience award at the 2017 BBC Audio Drama Awards.

The Writers’ Guild Awards will be announced and presented by comedian/actress Meera Syal on Monday 23 January 2017 at the Royal College of Physicians in central London.

Fingers crossed guys!

Martin’s IN PLAIN SIGHT

untitled-1

In Plain Sight is a new three-part mini-series cast by HH client KAHLEEN CRAWFORD and starring our very own MARTIN COMPSTON in the lead role.

The show is based on the true story of Lanarkshire detective William Muncie’s quest to bring to justice notorious Scottish killer Peter Manuel (played by MARTIN). Muncie first arrested Manuel in 1946 for housebreaking, but also successfully convicted him for a string of sexual assaults. Manuel vowed revenge. Released from prison in 1955, Manuel embarked on a two-year killing spree, claiming eight lives in the close-knit communities of South Lanarkshire.

Manuel evaded capture for so long because he was unlike anything the local police had ever encountered: A murderer without any discernible motive whose victims were chosen at random. Muncie was the one man who had Manuel’s measure and doggedly refused to give up until Manuel was brought to justice.

The gripping drama premieres next Wednesday 7th December at 9pm on ITV. Don’t miss it! Here’s the trailer:

KONG: SKULL ISLAND Trailer Unleashed

untitled-2

Brace yourselves! The trailer for the eagerly awaited Kong: Skull Island has arrived, and it looks incredible!

The huge forthcoming action epic stars HH clients TOM HIDDLESTON and JOHN C. REILLY. A reboot of the massive King Kong franchise, the Legendary Entertainment/Warner Bros. feature acts as a sister film to 2014’s Godzilla (which starred AARON TAYLOR-JOHNSON).

Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, Skull Island is set in the 1970s and follows a diverse team of explorers brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific. TOM stars as Captain James Conrad, heading up the naïve team, unaware they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong. JOHN stars as a stranded pilot living on the island, who acts as a mentor and guide to the ill-prepared team. Inevitably, serious mayhem ensues as they get into some deep trouble, facing off against a whole array of terrifying monsters.

We can’t wait!

Kong: Skull Island also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson and John Goodman and opens across UK cinema and iMAX screens on March 10 2017. See both our clients in action in the trailer below:

David OTHELLOwo!

The New York Theater Workshop’s modern-dress production of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy Othello opened last night, starring our wonderful DAVID OYELOWO in the titular role.

Sam Gold has directed this hotly-anticipated production, with Bond actor Daniel Craig also starring as the villainous Iago opposite DAVID‘s naïve Othello.

Having resisted playing the role for many years, the announcement of DAVID‘s performance has caused much hype and excitement amongst critics and fans across the world; this, coupled with the production’s intimate Off-Broadway setting, has made Othello one of the most difficult and coveted tickets of the current season!

To find out more about what inspired and motivated him to take on the role at this particular time, check out this fantastic article in the New York Times which gives insight into David’s career and discusses how both his personal and professional lives influenced his choice.

Sophie Narrates YOUNG, GIFTED & CLASSICAL

untitled-1

This Sunday at 8pm, BBC Four will premiere its documentary Young, Gifted & Classical: The Making of a Maestro, superbly narrated by our brilliant SOPHIE OKONEDO.

As part of the BBC’s current ‘Black and British’ season, this one-hour observational documentary explores issues of diversity and access in classical music and follows Sheku Kanneh-Mason, winner of this year’s BBC Young Musician Award.

The 17-year-old cellist wowed audiences with his virtuosity this summer in the grand finale of BBC Young Musician 2016. He not only won one of the most prestigious titles in classical music, but also entered the history books as the first black winner of the competition. Following Sheku, his parents and his six brothers and sisters, all of whom are also gifted in classical music, the programme looks at the human story and sacrifices that parents Stuart and Kadiatu made in order to support their children in pursuing their dreams.

Featuring interviews with Julian Lloyd Webber and Nicola Benedetti, the documentary will follow Sheku’s musical journey since winning BBC Young Musician, navigating the many opportunities that have come his way. It also shines a light on the Chineke Foundation, which was founded by Chi-chi Nwanoku, and follows the Chineke! Orchestra, featuring Sheku and some of his siblings, as they prepare for a special concert at the Royal Festival Hall, London.

Tune in on Sunday at 8pm.

star-of-nocturnal-animals-aaron-taylor-johnson-on-working-with-tom-ford-1477998160

Nocturnal Animals is the second feature film from writer/director Tom Ford and is a dark psychological thriller adapted (by Ford himself) from late American novelist Austin Wright’s 1993 book Tony and Susan. It tells the story of an art gallery owner (played by Amy Adams) haunted by her ex-husband (Jake Gyllenhaal)’s novel, a violent thriller she interprets as a veiled threat against her and a symbolic revenge tale.

Adams and Gyllenhaal play dual roles as the once-married couple and as the protagonists in the novel-within-the-film, from which the film takes its name. AARON TAYLOR-JOHNSON plays terrifying bad guy Ray, the leader of a gang hired to initiate the vengeful kidnapping. See our previous article Aaron’s NOCTURNAL ANIMALS Is A Smash! to read all the rave reviews he’s been receiving for his amazing performance in the film, which recently won the Silver Lion award at the 2016 Venice Film Festival. Michael Shannon, Isla Fisher and Laura Linney also star.

Go see Nocturnal Animals this weekend and soak up the deliciously dark plot and sumptuous visuals on the big screen. Here’s the trailer:

Returning home one day, he finds a ginger cat sitting outside his door. Thinking it belongs to a neighbour, he ignores the cat and goes to sleep. Over the next few days, the cat continues to linger outside his door, and James discovers an infected wound on the animal’s leg. More Rave Reviews For TRACEY ULLMAN’S SHOW

untitled-1

The Boston Globe has this week written a glowing (and very well-deserved) review of TRACEY ULLMAN and her fantastic show Tracey Ullman’s Show, which aired in the UK earlier this year and which is now playing in the USA, Friday nights at 11pm on HBO.

TRACEY‘s wonderful portrayals of some of the UK’s most beloved ‘national treasures’, including Dames Judi Dench and Maggie Smith, as well as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, has earned her much critical acclaim and admiration since airing in the UK at the start of the year. This week, The Boston Globe describes TRACEY as a “performer who inhabits characters to the point of magic. Ullman…deploys her skills in comic settings [with] the rare gift of thorough transformation. She’s a bit of a miracle, as far as I’m concerned, one of the best sketch artists alive today. She contains multitudes.”

The review continues: “I more than admire her, and place her among a group of paragons of comedy including Lily Tomlin, Imogene Coca, and Madeline Kahn: She knows how to invest her kooky characters with heart, vulnerability, and poignancy.”

Go TRACEY!

HUMANS Are Back!

In Series 2, interest about the synths will go global as more robots become conscious. Episode One travels from Berlin to San Francisco and back to the UK as we find our characters fractured and scattered, but the story will gradually reel them all back together. RUTH returns to her role as D.I. Karen Voss – a detective with a twist – with SIMON and RAPHAEL appearing for the first time, as Sanchez and Ten respectively.

Humans Series 2 debuts on Channel 4 at 9pm on Sunday 30th October. Here’s the trailer:

Through adultery, bigamy, fraud and murder, Mary Ann betters herself socially and financially. But the more she kills, the greater the risk her heinous crimes will finally be exposed.

YONDERLAND Returns For Series 3

untitled-1

Sky’s surreal comedy Yonderland returns to Sky 1 this Sunday 16th October at 6:30pm for its third series.

Created, written by and starring HH client MATHEW BAYNTON, the weirdly wonderful series follows 33-year-old mum Debbie Maddox’s adventures in Yonderland where most of the characters happen to be puppets and with only an Elf by her side. In Series 3, the evil Imperatrix is no more – killed when she terminated the robotic weapon which shared her life force. With her gone, Negatus now answers to no-one and can seize control of Yonderland for himself. But how will his fellow Overlords respond to the departure of Her Eminence?

Arriving in the show this year for the first time is our very own STEPHEN FRY who joins the cast as mysterious returning Elder, Cuddly Dick. Recently released from prison, he is a charming, avuncular eccentric who loves nothing more than to spread love and kindness (as well as plenty of hugs and kisses). But there may be more to his persona beneath this warm and affable exterior…

Tune in on Sunday for the premiere! Here’s the trailer, featuring STEPHEN in his fun new role (and a sneak peek of MATHEW at the end):

Tilda Is The Ancient One

untitled-1

Marvel’s eagerly awaited big screen version of Doctor Strange will be unleashed onto UK cinema screens on Friday October 28, starring an awesomely cool, androgynous TILDA SWINTON as the iconic ‘The Ancient One’, complete with no hair!

Directed by Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange focuses primarily on the titular character’s origin story. In 1963, after being crippled in an accident, talented neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange, the next Sorcerer Supreme – played by Benedict Cumberbatch – goes on a quest to find a way to repair his mangled hands, eventually meeting TILDA‘s The Ancient One and her student Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor). With The Ancient One as his mentor, he sets out on a journey to master the mystic arts.

Doctor Strange sets a new tone for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, focusing on magic and extra-dimensional beings. The film is excellently conceived and great fun, and TILDA is spellbinding in her magical role, fitting in perfectly to the unique Marvel universe.

Check out the trailer below and make sure you see it on the big screen from October 28.
